Patrol Winter Kids: how to shorten your elastic laces
We are thrilled to announce that our popular waterproof and snowproof unisex Patrol Winter boots are now also available for kids. They come with the same well-loved characteristics as our adult Patrol Winter boots, plus some child-friendly features like an added finger loop at the back and adjustable laces for easy on and off.
Of course, with their flexible, thin, zero-drop sole and a foot-shaped toe box, they feature all the important criteria of a barefoot shoe as well. Due to their gusseted tongue, waterproof membrane, sole with a grippy tread pattern, insulating lining and extra felt insole, they are the perfect boots for your child’s winter.

To fit various foot volumes, we decided to make the elastic laces of our Patrol Winter Kids boots relatively long. In case your child has low- to medium volume feet and the standard laces are too long, we include two end clips with every purchased pair of Patrol Winter Kids boots. This way you can shorten the laces for a customized fit and hide the cut ends with the accompanying end clips. For instructions on how to do that, please reference to the following steps.
Before cutting, decide on your desired length. This is best done while your child is trying on the boots. Make sure to leave enough length, so you can still loosen the laces enough for your child to slip the boots on and off easily.
-
Cut the laces with a pair of scissors.
- Insert the cut-off laces into the end clip like so.
- Fold the smaller side of the clip over the cut lace ends and press until the piece locks into place.
- Finished! When the boots are being worn, tuck the attached end clip under the bottom laces to secure it.
